Still Feeling Good

Now almost the end of May. I am still feeling good If I have cancer it is not letting my body know.
I think that the Prducts I am taking every day must have something to do about it.

I have not done anything the doctors said I should do. Like taking their Chemo treatments. I only take Shaklee products. I feel that I should let people know that you don't have to take what the doctors recommend. There are many other choices.

Went Bowling

Went bowling with family Sunday afternoon. We bowled three games and I had the best score of the three. However, on the last game one of my grandsons did tie my score.

So I guess I did not win all the games. But I feel pretty good that an 84 year old came out on top.

Maybe they just let me win LOL

I still am not feeling any effects from the incurable cancer the doctors say I have.

They are still just practicing so I wont hold it against them.

God tells me it is not my time yet.

Positive Thinking Pays Off

I haven't posted for a while. Been keeping very busy.
So far everything is going well. I have had no indications that the cancer I was told I had is causing any new problems. I am feeling strong with no side effects. I am sure this is because I decided to not do Chemo. I am taking a new shaklee product that rebuilds cells. I like the approach to rebuild as apposed to chemo which kills good and bad cells.

The Holidays 2008

Dec. 29, 2008

The holidays this year were different. The family went out of their way to get everyone together. It had a feeling like maybe they all were thinking it just maybe my last Christmas.
We had some real nice gatherings. one was at our daugters in Morena Vally. She invited the whole family to come on the Sunday before Christmas. It was a pot luck and about 40 people showed up. We all had a great time.
It has been a long time since we have had that many show up at one time. Everyone had a good time.
At 10AM Today the Director of Faith Formation from our church came to the house to hear my story about where I was at this time in my faith. This was the result of my talking to one of our priests about how I could help others. He came over with his son and asked me a lot of questions. Then his son had some questions also. They are going to put it together in a story. They are getting back together with me later to see where we go with it from there. Click on the title link to see my cancer story.

Results from Visit to Oncologist

Results from my visit.

I liked the oncologist much better than the one I talked to in the hospital. However the information was pretty much the same.

He said that I had an incurable cancer, proceeded to say it could only be treated with chemo. He went on to explain the type of cancer I had and what I could expect to happen. I asked about alternative treatments. In his opinion there are no alternative treatments. He said it is all snake oil and no matter what people claim none of them work.

He examined me and determined that at this point I had no outward indications, and said that was the best time to start chemo. I told him that I had a lot to think about and I would let him know after the year end holidays.

I had started to take a product that rebuilds cells just prior to finding out I had a cancer. I am continuing to take in an increased dose, and I am continuing to feel great. I am also looking into a water that is reported to change tha PH of your system. We are all born with are bodies in an alkaline ph state and as we get older we tend to change our PH to an acidic t state.

Many researchers say that cancer we not grow in a body that is in an alkaline state. So I am looking into what it will take to get my body in an alkaline state.

As I find out more I will update the blog. I will also be updating my web site with more articles and RSS feeds relating to cancer.

P.S. Any comments related to alternative treatments and/or chemo experiences are wecome.

Cancer The Word No one Wants To Hear

The main purpose of this article is to discuss cancer and the chance that you have it now. It seems that cancer can arrive in your body at a moments notice,

All of us are born into this world with potential cancer cells just lurking in the back ground just waiting for the right moment to surface and the promote fear of the word itself into every one we know. Most of us have known a family member that has heard these words after visit to a doctor. I am very sorry to have to tell you that you have cancer. The same feeling is still there if you hear it about a friend. The thought flashes though your mind. Thank God it is not me.

My own Story

In the later part of May, 2008 I went to see my primary care doctor because I had some fever. After checking me he said it looks like you have pneumonia. He give me a prescription to take and said I want you to go for a chest X ray. I Went for the X ray and the doctor called me to say the X ray showed pneumonia and I should come to see him in a week, after I had taken the medication.

I went back and he checked again and said it appears to have cleared up but I want you to get another X ray. The new X ray verified that the pneumonia was gone.

On June 9, 2008 we had a granddaughter getting married in a late afternoon ceremony out doors and the reception was outdoors in the same location in Temecula, CA.

One weekend in late July 2008, I was out in a grocery store with my wife and I was freezing while going though the cold sections of the store. When we got home, my wife took my temperature and it was 101. My wife called the doctor after normal hours and he called back a little later. He said to go to emergency at the hospital.

After all the checks they did including another X ray they said I had a reoccurrence of the pneumonia. After another week, the doctor wanted me to come see him again.
Everything appeared to be OK but just to be sure he wanted me to get a C Scan.

The results of the C Scan showed no pneumonia but it did show a small growth in my left lung. So my doctor gave me a referral to see a pulmonary specialist.

The pulmonary Specialist showed me the results of the C Scan and explained just what we were seeing. He said we would have to do some tests to determine if the growth was cancer or not.

The tests he wanted tome to take were as follows:

A needle biopsy, an MRI, and a breathing test. I elected to do the MRI and the breathing test first.
The breathing test was good, and the MRI was good, but the tumor in the lung was called worrisome for cancer.
The next step was the needle biopsy. This said that it was cancer.

The recommendation of the pulmonary specialist was that I should have surgery that would be to remove the lower half of my left lung.

The next step was to get a brain scan, and a bone scan to see if the cancer had spread. These scan results were good.

The next step was to consult with the surgeon to explain what was entailed with the procedure. All of this took some time.

The surgery was scheduled to be done on my 84th birthday which was November 25 2008.

When the surgeon got the camera inside my chest cavity they found that the cancer had spread to the wall of my chest. It was determined that there was no point to completing the operation to remove the lower half of the lung.

When I was awake enough to understand I was told that the cancer had spread to the chest wall, and a oncologist came in later to explain the next steps. The oncologist told me that I had incurable cancer.

At this point I have set up an appointment with a different oncologist to see if they can come up with a better outcome. The appointment is for December 17, 2008
