When you’re just getting starting in Affiliate Marketing, one of the most important things you need to learn about is traffic – specifically what it is and how to get it.

Because although it’s become somewhat of a cliche these days, the truth is, “the money is in the list” – but that means YOUR list, not the list of the people whose products you’re selling – at least not if you want to be successful.

Here’s why. As an affiliate, your job is to find people who want to buy the products you’re promoting, right? So to do that, you need to write an ad (or hire a copywriter to write it for you), and send people to a Website where they can buy the product.

1. Write your ad and send prospects to a well-written squeeze page – YOUR squeeze page. (A squeeze page is a single page Website that has one purpose – to convince prospects to give you their contact information. Squeeze pages should be simple – no flash, no links, and if you use a graphic or photo, keep it simple and make sure it relates to the purpose of the page. How do you convince prospects to give you their contact information? By giving them information that is what they’re expecting to find and that’s useful to them.)

2. Offer them an incentive to give you their contact information. (This could be a free report, a free newsletter, an audio or video product – just make sure it’s related to the niche or affiliate product.)

3. After they’ve opted in to your autoresponder, send them to your affiliate sales page.

4. Follow up with them on a regular basis – mixing good information, free bonuses from time to time and additional affiliate products.

Lather, rinse, repeat. (Once you’re making money from your first affiliate product, move on to the next and then the next and the next.)

The best thing about this is that you can set most of it up on your autoresponder, so you turn it into a “system” and it runs “almost” on autopilot. (There is NO SUCH THING as a business that runs 100% on autopilot – and don’t believe anyone who tells you differently.) Any business – real business – takes work and effort. Similarly, avoid overestimation, for that may leave some activities without enough time. A realistic budgeting of time is a must. Time allocation is a skill that is acquired with experience. So keep reviewing and revising your time schedule as you progress.

4. Organize your life. That will help you avoid wasting your precious time and leave more time for the actual work. Remember indiscipline causes confusion, even chaos, in life. It eats into your time. Avoid sloppiness. For instance, leave your personal belongings of daily use, like your glasses, your clothing, your computer etc., in the same place. If you do, you won’t need to spend time looking for them all over the place. Apply the principle of doing work first and then taking time for pleasure and relaxation. Reverse the order only at the pain of falling prey to procrastination. You can get time for rest and relaxation if you are efficient in doing your assigned work.

5. Start working bit by bit. You may see a mountain at first, but mountains can be moved, especially if you begin by moving just a small stone from it. You know you cannot move the entire mountain all at once. Do not be overwhelmed by the immensity of the task before you. That will put you off. And you will put off the task for another day, which will never come. Just begin by taking one small step and you will invariably reach your destination.

6. Put first things first early in the day. Remember procrastination grows into a habit by the minute. Begin your day by launching yourself head first into the most important job waiting to be done.

7. Learn to cope with anxiety, depression, stress and other similar conditions of the mind related to your problems in life. Keep yourself fit, not just physically but mentally as well. Learn and practice suitable mental relaxation techniques such as meditation.

This video alone is going to make me a lot of
money. Why? Because I used to only send out one

What is the best way to promote as an affiliate of a company? I believe that most people go about it the wrong way. Sure, people need to sign-up using YOUR AFFILIATE URL – that goes without saying. Sending them directly to that page, though, isn’t a good idea at all. You are giving away your ability to monetize at all. Either they sign-up into your organization – or they leave the page entirely. If the REFERRAL LINK is much more attractive (and effective) it is possible that your best choice would be to send them straight there…but if you know HTML or have a website builder, taking the time to make a good “splash” page is your best bet. Here’s why: YOU CAN PUT WHATEVER YOU CHOOSE TO PUT ON YOUR PAGE! This means A LOT! If you are like me, you probably have other things that you would like to advertise. If you can advertise everything at one time… WHY NOT? When I create a splash page I make them colorful, put at least 3 income opportunities on it so that they can choose one that they might like more than the others, and I put sponsored ads on the page so that I can make money for showing my page. Did you catch that last part? Sponsored Ads? YES. Open up a GOOGLE ADSENSE account (I use YAHOO) and MONETIZE YOUR TRAFFIC. When you have this going for you, you will find that it is easier to build your organization. Most people don’t want any part of your opportunity, and you can’t blame them. Everything isn’t for everybody. If you purchase traffic (like I do, sometimes) you may find that the ads pretty much cover the costs of promoting the page. You cannot ask for a better set-up! It is just a numbers game – and if you can make it cheaper to show your business opportunity to people – you will be able to afford to advertise your page even more! I use this system to build different organizations, and it works really, really well if you keep the traffic coming in.
